For Heidi

I have been so bad at updating this page!  I know Heidi misses these updates so this one is for her.  :)

Rowan is really doing great.  It's so funny to see how much he loves being around people now, considering when we first brought him home he wanted nothing to do with us.  Wherever we are, he has to be.  He has also gotten spoiled and doesn't like to just lay on the floor.  He now insists that there is a blanket underneath him.  Can you say spoiled?

He went back to the vet last Saturday for one more vaccination.  He is now all set until December!  He was great at the vet, other than not wanting to go in the room where they give the shots.  He definitely remembered what happened back there!  I had to pull him from the front while the tech picked up his back end and between the two of us we got him through the door.  I went back up front to pay and about three minutes later Rowan came bounding through the door looking for me!

As a treat for being so good at the vet I took him to the dog park after.  It was cold and snowy but Rowan loves that weather and he had a ball!  We were there for about 45 minutes.

I think it's safe to say that Rowan has definitely made himself at home.

Catching Up

Hi All!

So sorry I haven't posted in a while.  Rowan is doing GREAT!!  We are all so very thankful that we found him and were able to welcome him into our family.

He's really settled in and gotten comfortable with us.  We still go on our walks (just less frequently thanks to the weather), he has taken over our daughter's bed as his own, he adjusts to new things much more quickly (and he hasn't peed on either of the Christmas trees, which is a major thing in my book, since he pees on every single tree when we go for walks), he's gotten used to the fireplace...things that would have thrown him into a tizzy a few months ago don't even phase him now.

Hoping to get some pics of Rowan by the tree and opening his presents on Christmas.  This is his first real Christmas and I can't wait to see what he thinks of it all!

Bummer

I entered Rowan in the Fuzzy Nation Super Model Contest but, unfortunately, he didn't make the Top 100.  Totally bummed, since obviously Rowan is the cutest dog on the planet!

I took Rowan to the Metropark this past weekend.  While walking down the main path I was pretty sure he was going to break my hand, he was pulling on the leash so hard!  I think he was in sensory overload and just too excited.  Every biker that passed us (regardless of which direction they were going) Rowan decided he wanted to chase them.  This obviously wasn't going to work and just as I was going to turn around and take him back to the car we came upon a nature trail and I decided to give that a shot.  We were the only ones on it so I took Rowan off his leash and just let him go.  He sniffed and ran and explored and whenever he started to wander off a little too much I would yell, "Rowan!  Come!" and his head would shoot up and he would run right to my side and sit!  He had a ball and we ended up covering about four miles.  When we got back to the car he drank a bowl of water (I also had water for him with us on the walk) and he jumped into the car all by himself!  We will definitely get back to the Metropark soon.

Cousins!

I've been really bad about taking pictures since my phone has been freaking out.  Should be getting a new phone next week and hopefully picture taking will increase!

Rowan's cousin, Luke, stayed with us for a few days this week!  Rowan did really well adjusting to having Luke around.  He would get jealous if we were paying attention to Luke but he never got mean about it...he just made sure we remembered he was there, too.  Here is a cute pic of the two of them hanging out in the yard:

Saturday we went over to Luke's house to hang out with him and his brother, Marcel.  Rowan did great and was very playful.  Apparently, he was a little too playful for Marcel (Marcel is a little white puffball about the size of Rowan's head) because he eventually let Rowan know he was done playing.  Rowan quickly got the hint!  When it was time to go home Rowan jumped into the car all by himself!  This is the first time he's ever done that!
